Basic Eligibility Qualification
The candidates should fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
Candidate should be an Indian National Candidate should have passed/appeared* Bachelor degree or equivalent in the relevant field of Engineering/Technology from State Governments/MHRD approved institutions, with at least 50 % Aggregate marks (at least 45% marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories and persons with disability belonging to Maharashtra State only) The candidate should possess Bachelor degree in the relevant course of Engineering/Technology as specified in the eligibility criteria of the concerned University for which admission is being sought to a particular Post graduate degree course/specialization Important Note: - The candidates must ensure before applying for admission to the post graduate degree courses/specialization in Master of Engineering/ Technology in a particular University that he/she is eligible for admission to the programme of his/her choice as per the relevant Eligibility Rules of the concerned University.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission through CAP
Eligibility Criteria for admissions to Maharashtra state and OMS candidates Basic educational qualification as specified in Rule No. 2.1. Having Positive GATE Score in respective qualifying branch Candidature Type in CAP:
The Candidature Type of the candidate plays an important role in the CAP. To be eligible as candidate, he/she has to have type of candidature as Type A or B or C or D status. The Candidature Type of the candidate can be determined as per the guidelines provided in Table 2. Candidate should carefully follow the guidelines and select their Candidature Type properly while submitting application form for CAP.

AND

3 Type C : Does not satisfy as Type A and Type-B But Father or Mother of the candidate is an employee of the Government of India or Government of India Undertaking who is posted and reported to duty in Maharashtra State before the last date for submitting the application for Admission.
4 Type D : Does not satisfy as Type A, Type-B and Type-C But Father or Mother of the candidate is an employee of the Government of Maharashtra / Government of Maharashtra Undertaking.
Type of Candidature for Outside Maharashtra State (OMS) candidates Sr.No. Eligibility Type of Candidature
1 Type OMS : OMS candidate should be an Indian national, who is not satisfying any of the conditions Stated in Sr. No.1, 2, 3, 4 (i.e., Type A,B,C,D) of rule 3.1. OMS(Outside Maharashtra State) In brief, candidate will have type of candidature as “Outside Maharashtra State” if the Indian National candidate passes either HSC or Qualifying examination or both the examinations from a college outside Maharashtra State AND the candidate does not satisfy conditions of being either of the Type A, B, C or D candidature. There shall be no reservation for the backward class category seats in case of OMS candidates.
Reservation for Backward class Candidates:
The percentage of seats reserved for candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State are as per the details shown in Table 3. The percentages of reservation are the percentages of the seats available for Maharashtra candidates (Maharashtra State seats) who are coming under the purview of the Competent Authority in the Government/Government Aided/University Department/University Managed institutes/ Unaided Non-Minority Institutions. In Unaided Minority Institutes, there is no reservation for backward class category candidates; however reservation for backward class candidates can be implemented under CAP provided that the management of the institute gives the written consent.
Backward class candidates from the Maharashtra State only as per candidature type defined above (Rule 3.2) shall claim the category to which they belong at the time of submission of CAP application form for Admission. These are the minimum percentages of reservation exclusive of the backward class candidates securing allotment through General Merit.
Admission Process
Admission Process The Institutional admission procedure is as per the rules and regulations prescribed by D.T.E. (Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra State).The applicants will have to abide by these rules and decisions taken by DTE ,time to time.
Tuition Fees: The Tuition Fees payable will be as per the decisions of the Shikshan Shulk Samiti. The fees can be revised on receipt of the guidelines given by the Supreme Court/High Court of India and /or the Shikshan Shulk Samiti.
FEES STRUCTURE FOR 2011-2012 (PROVISIONAL)
Selection Procedure: Admission will be made strictly on the basis of inter se merit and as per procedures elaborated in the information Brochure MHTCET 2011 issued by Directorate of Technical Education. The applicants should refer to DTE website ("www.dte.org.in") for obtaining detailed information about these procedures, rules and regulations. After all the seats are filled in and / or the admission process is over, no claim for admissions shall be entertained on any grounds whatsoever. The last date of admissions declared by the Office of DTE shall be strictly observed. Application forms can be obtained at the Institute office against a payment of Rs. 750/- in cash/DD/Pay Order of any Nationalized / Scheduled Bank drawn in favour of Principal, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Payable at Mumbai. The candidates themselves have to be present at the counseling session for allocation of seats. He / she will then have to submit all original certificates / documents along with the prescribed fees. Failure of submission of original certificates and/or payment of fees as mentioned above, within the specified period shall lead to cancellation of admission. On confirmation of admission after payment of fees, the candidate will be governed by the Rules and Regulations of Discipline and conduct of the Institution, University of Mumbai, in vogue and as prescribed by the competent authority from time to time.
Documents to be submitted:
I) Statement of Marks for 10th or equivalent examination.
ii) Statement of Marks at the qualifying examination 12th or equivalent(Original + 04 photo copies).
iii) Provisional Statement of Eligibility, by the candidates who have passed 12th from other than Maharashtra Board),
IV) School/College Leaving Certificate / Bonafide Certificate from the previous Institution.
v) MH CET 2011 Score Card (03 Copies)
vi) Copy of admission slip / allotment letter.
vii) In case of candidates belonging to SC/ST, Caste Certificate and Caste Validity Certificate from competent authority.
viii) For NT1, NT2 and OBC candidates non-creamy layer and Caste Validity Certificate.
Every student and his/her parent / guardian has to sign an undertaking before he/she is actually admitted to the college. This undertaking covers different behavioral and disciplinary facets. The candidate passing the qualifying examination, other than 12th Std Examination (12th Std) Maharashtra Board and admitted to any course in Engineering at this college will have to produce the eligibility certificate from the University of Mumbai to which the college is affiliated, before his/her admission. Further clarification, in these matters may be obtained from the Institute Office. Notwithstanding anything contained in the Rules, if the state Government takes any policy decision pertaining to FE admission, then the same shall be brought into effect at that point in time as per the directives from the government from time to time.
