I.T.I. Amreli was established in 1963 with 6 trade and 168 sanctioned seats matching with an Industrial growth of Amreli and near by areas the sanction seats where increased as per requirement of Industries. The institute running in three shifts having a total capacity of 856 sanction seats against which 849 are undergoing training in 16 NCVT and 03 SCVT pattern of trades. Institute is having 13 acre of land and its own building which includes 27 no. of staff quarters and hostel facility for trainees having capacity to accommodate 100 trainees. Total built up area is 8604 sq. mt. All the trades of institute are affiliated to DGET New Delhi.

The institute is also acting as Nodal institute in financial and administrative matters for ITI Vadiya, Kukavav, Rajula , Savarkundla, Jafarabad and Bagasara (Mahila). Presently, Industrial estates are situated around Amreli. In which various 48 industrial establishments are functioning, engaged in Chemical, Mechanical and Electrical areas. The institute is playing the key roll for monitoring Apprenticeship Training Scheme in Amreli and some part of Junagadh district.
