The period of training varies from 6 months to 2 years, while the entry qualification varies from 8th class to 12th class pass, depending upon the trade. The age limit for admission in ITIs is 14 to 40 years. To meet the demand of the Industry Institute has changed with the time & introduced the Centre of Excellence in the sector 'Construction & Wood Working' . For imparting skills in various vocational trades to meet the skilled manpower requirements for technology and industrial growth of the country, In India vocational training is provided through a network of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) set up by the State Governments and private sector through out the country. The development of training schemes at National level, evolution of policy, laying of training standards, norms, conducting of examinations, certification, etc. are done by Central Government of India, whereas the implementation of the training schemes is done by the State Government through Industrial Training Institute's.

In 1980 INDUSTRIAL TRAINING INSTITUTE - BELAPUR was established in Belapur, the suburb of the satellite city Navi Mumbai. Today the Institute is recognised as one of the centre of best Vocational Training provider in Mumbai & Navi Mumbai. In the processes of upgradation & to meet the needs of Industry I.T.I.-Belapur has associated with Asapp Media Pvt. Ltd. as Industry Partner & will start the new training scheme from Aug. 2009 known as Centre of Excellence in the sector 'Construction & Wood Working'. In this upgradation processes Institute Management Committee (IMC) has been formed in the Institute. With the help of IMC the total Institute Development Plan for next five years has been prepared & supported by the interest free loan of Rs.2.5 cr. from Government of India.
