The Govt. ITI for Women, Chalakudy was established in August 1990 with three trades. The institute is located at Ward Number XXVIII in Chalakudy Municipality, Thrissur District, Kerala. Presently, the institute functions with 6 units in three trades, namely Electronic Mechanic, Mechanic Radio and Television and Computer Operator and Programming Assistant. The total strength of trainees undergoing training in all trades is 132 Nos. This institute is situated in 0.4047 hectors of land.

This Institute has excellent infrastructure facilities. Sufficient pure water supply and extra high-tension electricity facilities also favor further scope for development. In this institution the Administrative Block, Workshop, Library etc. are arranged in same compound. Trained Labor force is useful for Industrial Development and thereby economic growth of the state and the nation. The scope for new trades in Civil and electronics field is very high.

In the present scenario the country is in need of highly skilled female craftsman in various fields. The institute today enjoys a commanding position among all other training institutes in the state. It has been designated with an objective of strengthening the quantitative and qualitative need for skilled training in Kerala. The institution seeks to impart a trainee oriented, value based, skill-development training so as to enable the trainees to face the challenges of the fast changing global scenario in the years ahead. To realize the goal of the institute, multi pronged efforts are being made, for making the institute to attain optimum excellence in each and every function.
