Government Industrial Training Institute for women, Kazhakuttom, Thiruvananthapuram was established in 1978, on the realization that the country was in need of skilled female craftsmen too in different trades, for its growth. It is the first Institute of its kind in Kerala and today enjoys a premier position among all other such it is in the state. It has been designated with an objective of strengthening the qualitative and quantitative needs of training for women. The Institution seeks to impart a trainee oriented , value based , skill development oriented training ,so as to enable the girls to face the challenges of the fast growing global scenario ,particularly in scientific and technological field, in the years ahead .

This Institute is nestling amidst the scenic greenery of Kazhakutom village , at the north part of “Ananthapury” ,the capital city of the “Gods Own Country”. At its western side, lying the endless iron track of the great, Indian Railway , which leads us to the other cultures of our great nation, up to Kashmir. At its east lying one of the busiest vanes of our Highway system, NH 47.

We have a beautiful campus of area three acre, surrounded with natural village greenery . This Institute brings out around 250 trained craftsman annually.
