The Institute was started in the year 1984 with intake capacity of 124 seats in eight trades. At Present the institute have intake capacity of above 280 seats of six months / one year / two year duration. Other than Conventional Courses two months to four months duration and two weeks to one month durations for Informal sector, imparting vocational training in Pandharkawada. Institute is also declared as Center of Excellence , TEXTILE TECHNOLOGY & PROCESSING SECTOR in the year 2008. Institute has Library, Audio- Visual room, Sports room, Dispensary, Canteen and Hostel facility.

Govt. of India decided to upgrade 500 ITIs in the country in to “Centre of Excellence”. I.T.I. Pandharkawada Dist. Yavatmal is among 500 ITI's in the country.
