The Institute was started in the year 1957 with intake capacity of 96 seats in seven trades. At Present the institute have intake capacity of above 4500 seats / year in 40 different trades of six months to two years duration, 8 Course of two months to four months duration and 16 courses of two weeks to one month durations for Informal sector, imparting vocational training in Kolkata.

the Institute is a first ISO 9001:2000 certified Government ITI in the state which shows our assurance and commitment for quality services. Institute is also declared as Centre of Excellence , Apparel Park Training Centre in the year 2005. Institute has very rich landscape area with plenty of trees and many gardens in the compound providing a nice atmosphere for training. Institute has rich Library, Audio- Visual room with state- of - the arts, Sports room, Dispensary, Canteen and Hostel facility.
