Industrial Training Institute, Dhanuvachapuram, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala under the directorate of Employment and Training was initially set up in the year 1955 with 4 trades ( Draughtsman Mechanic, Blacksmith, Internal Combustion Engine Machanic and Wireman ). The land area of the institute is 5.27 hectare ( 52700 m2 ) and covered are for workshop, Anministrative block, Hostel etc. is 7882 m2.

The institute is imparting training in 22 Trades ( 18 NCVT and 4 SCVT ). The institute is upgraded to COE in the Production and Manufacturing Cluster. Trainees are admitted in the COE Scheme in the basic module and Advance module consisting 3 Trades viz. Advance welding, CNC Machining and CAD/CAM. The total intake capacity of institute raises to 1304, including the trainees in 22 trades affliated under NCVT and Trades under SCVT. One unit of Post ITI cource in TV Technician is also conducted in this institute.

As per the direction from the DG E&T to get better linkage with industries both from public and Private, we have constituted IMC in the year 2005-06. To monitor the perfomance of the IMC, district level and state level steering committees are also functioning now. The Chairman of the IMC is from industries and the convener is the Principal of the institute and other 4 members are from autonomous and Private industries.
