Late Shri Govindrao Nikam, the Founder President of Sahyadri Shikshan Sanstha, Sawarde established it in 1957 with the passion to make education available for children of the rural farmers. He faced many difficulties while establishing Sahyadri Shikshan Sanstha at Sawarde and started first Secondary School at Sawarde named New English School, Sawarde. Thereafter Late Shri.GovindraoJi Nikam received high respect not only in the district but all over in the field of education in the Konkan Region. The people of Konkan rightly called him ” Shikshan Maharshi” as he devoted his whole life for the field of education.

After the dawn of independence, Industrial revolution has taken big strides in the country. As a result Industrial Technology become the needed of the day. There was shortage of technicians in this filed, so the government started some Industrial Training Institutions. Still there was dirth of Technicians and as a result the government allowed to start such ITI’s on no-grant basis.

Late Shri. Govindraoji Nikam realized this need of time and established an ITI at Sawarde in 1984. The courses available here are Welder , Wireman , Civil Draftsman, Motor Mechanic, Fitter, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning , Computer Operator & Programming Assistant , Diesel Mechanic , Tailoring & Cutting etc.
