Worth Technical Training Centre for Physically Handicapped
WORTH Trust runs three Technical Training Centres, one each at Katpadi, Pondicherry and Tiruchirapalli (all in South India). Physically disabled boys and girls with '10th standard pass' qualification are admitted to these centres and given training in the trades of : 1) Turner, 2) Electronic Mechanic, 3) Machinist, 4) Welder
These are courses recognized by the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT). Those who successfully complete the programme, receive certificates issued by the Directorate of Employment and Training of the Government of India.Going a step further, the Trust has also opened its doors to youth with disabilities, who do not meet the educational qualification requirements of NCVT, by providing them a two year non-formal training in its industrial units.
The Rotary Club of Madras takes a keen interest in the activities of the Trust. The Club funded the training course in the trade of Electronic Mechanic.
The advantage of having production units next door, helps the trainees to get hands-on experience of work in the real world, making them ready to fill positions in industrial establishments.
