Yes, it is possible to do M. Com by correspondence. In fact, many of the Universities offer M. Com courses by correspondence. You can apply to Institute of Distance Education, University of Mumbai, Fort, Mumbai 400 001; Institute of Correspondence Education, University of Chennai, Chepauk, Chennai 600 005; University of Delhi, School of Correspondence courses and Continuing Education, 5, Cavalry Lines, Delhi 110 007; Bangalore University, Directorate of Correspondence courses and Distance Education, Central College Building, Bangalore 560 001. Possibility of getting a better job after M. Com depends on the nature of job you are applying for. For example, M. Com can be a over qualification for jobs in accounting. Those jobs need a B. Com. At the same time, with M. Com it is possible to get a job in corporate finance, banking, financial research and foreign trade depending on your specialisation in M. Com. For a job as a lecturer, you have to be at least an M. Com. After M. Com, you will have to qualify through National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC. Or, alternatively you can qualify through the State Eligibility Test (SET) conducted by University of Pune. M. Com is the minimum eligibility for appearing in NET and SET. If you are a Ph. D, you can directly get a job as a lecturer. And for promotion from a lecturer to a reader in a college or University, you will have to be a Ph. D.
